With the ATEN CS1308 KVM Switch, a single USB or PS/2 console controls up to eight computers, with two‑level cascading allowing control of up to 64 computers. In Broadcast Mode, commands can be executed simultaneously on selected computers, making tasks such as software installation, upgrades and system‑wide shutdown more efficient.

Computer selection is carried out via front‑panel push buttons, hotkeys or a multilingual on‑screen display (OSD) menu, while Video DynaSync, ATEN’s exclusive technology, eliminates boot‑up display issues and optimises resolution when switching between ports.

It supports USB keyboards for PC, Mac and Sun systems, with automatic PS/2 and USB interface detection. USB or PS/2 keyboard and mouse emulation ensures computers can boot even when the console focus is elsewhere, while superior video quality is maintained at resolutions up to 2048 × 1536 with DDC2B support.

With two‑level password security, only authorised users can view and control the connected computers, supporting up to four users and one administrator, each with a separate profile. An Auto Scan feature allows monitoring of user‑selected computers.

The switch supports hot‑plugging, allowing computers to be added or removed without powering down. Audible alerts can be enabled or disabled via hotkey or the on‑screen display (OSD), and the firmware is upgradeable for ongoing functionality and performance improvements.
