Single or Double Wall?

It comes down to weight. Single wall boxes are lighter and cheaper — fine for clothes, soft furnishings and lighter odds and ends. For books, crockery, tools and anything you really don't want to lose, go double wall: the extra layer of corrugation handles the load and stacks without crushing. As a rule, if you'd wince when it dropped, pack it double wall.

Box Sizes & Types

Match the box to what's going in it. Small book boxes keep heavy items at a liftable weight, large transport boxes swallow bulkier, lighter loads, and wardrobe boxes with a hanging rail move clothes straight off the rail without folding. As a rough guide, a one-bed flat needs around 15–20 boxes, a two-bed home 30–40, and a three-bed 50+. It's always worth a few spares — multipacks make that easy and cheaper per box.
