Our Corporate Social Responsibility
People, Sustainability, Climate - these are not just words for us.
These are the main fields in which we are working to prove to everybody how we want to change the way we live and work together. This is how we are doing it. Everyone has values that they live by, whether they are aware of it or not. For companies it is no different they should care deeply about their actions and how they influence the communities around them.
Our vision until 2025
Environmentally friendly products and increasing renewable or recyclable materials are ways to limit climate change. Since 2014 we have also reduced our carbon emission by 60 percent and continue to work hard to increase that number.
Sustainability is engrained in our DNA through our motto: be green, buy green, sell green, tell green. We are committed to double the amount of sustainable products we offered in 2020 from 20% to 40% in 2025.
We know the impact we have locally will have a ripple effect globally. That is why we are determined to further reduce our carbon footprint, waste and consumption of resources.
Some green facts
Our catalogues are printed on FSC-certified paper.
In 2021 we recycled at least 87% of our waste in UK.
CO2 compensation on all customer deliveries since 2020 (UK, IE)
Success stories we are proud of
Since 2020, we have been offsetting the emissions caused by transporting goods from our warehouses to customers in the UK and Ireland, allowing us to offer carbon-neutral deliveries. We also continue to invest in projects that realise wind energy, afforestation and safe drinking water.
60% of Namibia’s current electricity is imported. With this project, 5 wind turbines are installed to deliver 36,700MWh of clean electricity, which will meet the electricity needs of just under 23,000 Namibian’s every year!
Uruguay’s economy is based on the use of natural resources, which threatenes its 659 wild species. With this project, Eucalyptus trees will be planted over a 5 year period, with the goal to establish a forest for obtaining high value timber products.
Over 20 million people in Uganda do not have access to clean drinking water. The focus of this project is to support around 200 local schools, communities and refugee camps with safe access to clean drinking water filters.
