I use it for data storage from PC and storage of TV video recordings from Free view box (transferred from memory stick) also works for direct recording from digital free view box (instead of using the memory stick) Works a treat !

If recording TV from a digital freeview box got to be careful not to knock or jar the device or it can skip on recording ( suppose same will apply when transferring data from computer to the Toshiba)

You loose 22GB in installed files, so capacity is only 298GB....I think you should be quoted the size after the system files have been added rather than before.
